Website Updates

Here are some of the updates that went along with the transition:

• All images will now have more significant watermarks and copyright tagline, as well as a written description below for "Image Alt Text".

  • There is alt text availability within the image itself, but it is too limited in characters and capability, so for consistency, the alt text description will be located just underneath any pictures that alt text is important for (non-decorative).

  • I’m not happy about feeling the need to watermark everything, but with AI scraping the web without compensation to creators, well… It’s shitty, but this is the world we live in. I want to make it just a tiny bit harder for them (and other bad actors) and throw a wrench in the works if I can. Consider it akin to locking your home or vehicle. If someone wants to break in, they can, but it will discourage the majority of petty (lazy) thievery.

• Writing now have links back and forth to the previous and next posts, as well as a dedicated link back to the Writing landing page.

• I've also added Read / View time counters to pages that would benefit.

  • Your time is valuable. So is mine. Time is our most precious resource; the only thing we can't make more of and something that is constantly slipping away from us. I can't guarantee that what you'll find here will be worthy of your time, but at least you can get a sense, at a glance, with the counters to see if you're willing to invest some of it.

  • These numbers are based off an average read time of 238 words per minute, and 5 seconds per image. All of the text from the "Posted by" tagline down to just before the links at the bottom is included, and time will always be rounded up to the next even minute.

• I have added an Artwork section.

  • I would really like to set this up so that it can be sorted by date or subject, or when it was posted, but that is more complex than I can account for at this time. So for now, art will be added based on the day it was done, or when a photograph was taken of it.

• The "Gather & Grow" section is an updated version of the "Gather & Build" from the previous version of the site.

  • Subsections of this have been revised slightly, but nothing has been added at this time.

• I did not transfer over the Exercise section yet, but might do that once I start hitting the weights in earnest again.

Things are still a little cob-webby and everything would benefit from more additions, but I feel like there's a much better base now to build off of and expand.

I hope you'll enjoy what you find here and I hope it adds some kind of value to your existence. That's part of my hope in sharing any of this with you.
